Ugh.

After sitting outside to work on Maire’s edit while the Kid took his four-hour post-grandma nap, I got a very dense headache.  I know grass pollen, which I’m highly allergic to, is bad today, but the air quality was *awful*!  Shower made everything feel better with no drugs.

Kid-free = productive.

The Kid is spending the day and night at his grandma’s, and so far I’ve been to Target, cleaned the bathrooms, vacuumed, did the dishes, two loads of laundry, ate lunch, and finished *four* chapters.  I’m about to take a shower and get cleaned up, because when Mike get home we’re going to *dinner* – [...]

The definition of precocious.

We were at the Aquarium, finishing up at the touch tank.  The Kid walked over to clean his hands, and a lady came to stand beside him. Lady: Did you like touching the sharks?  They were so squishy! Kid: I saw them mating. Lady.  Oh.  Uhm.  -looooong pause-  Yes, I saw that, too.  -walks away- [...]

“And the sun will set for you.”

It’s been a tough week  mentally, probably because of all the decision-making.   Getting things figured out about the Kid inevitably leads to reliving my own childhood, and that’s not always pleasant. I’ve been having nightmares all week. One big thing I’ve been thinking about is socialization, and something came to me last night as I [...]

Reading.

After about two weeks off from sit-down learning, the Kid is back at it again, only this time without the sit-down part.  He’s been learning numbers like crazy, partly due to his new-to-him LeapPad and books I bought used on CraigsList from another homeschooler.  Every time we drive he talks to me from the back [...]
